Khalsa had climbed the tower in October 2024, demanding stricter laws against sacrilege. His protest gained significant attention and momentum over time. After the approval of the Jagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Bill, 2026 by Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, he chose to end his agitation, calling it a “spiritual victory.” For nearly a year and a half, Khalsa lived in extremely harsh conditions high above the ground, sheltered only by a plastic sheet. With minimal support—food and water delivered once a day—he endured isolation, harsh weather, and serious health challenges, including fluctuations in blood pressure and sugar levels. Favourable weather conditions and the use of a high-tech crane ensured a smooth and safe rescue operation.
