AAP leader Lucky Oberoi shot dead in Thar outside gurdwara in Punjab’s Jalandhar A shocking incident has rocked Punjab’s political circles after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satvinder Pal Singh, widely known as Lucky Oberoi, was shot dead in broad daylight on Friday morning, February 6, 2026, in Jalandhar. According to initial reports, the incident took place around 7:35 AM in the Model Town area, just outside a Gurdwara Sahib. Satvinder Pal Singh had finished his routine morning prayers and was getting into his Mahindra Thar SUV when the attack occurred. Eyewitnesses stated that two unidentified assailants arrived on a scooter. One of them, reportedly wearing a black hoodie and a mask, opened fire at close range, discharging 8 to 10 rounds through the vehicle’s windows before fleeing the spot. Critically injured, Oberoi was immediately rushed to Sri Ram Hospital, where doctors confirmed he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including injuries to the chest and chin. Despite being placed on ventilator support, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. Police have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the attackers. The motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained. The brutal killing has triggered shock, fear, and outrage, with political leaders and supporters demanding swift justice and stricter law-and-order measures in the state.
