In this eye-opening episode from our Mexico trip, we rented a local boat to explore one of the creeks near the Mexico-USA border, where many people risk their lives to cross into the United States illegally. What we saw was shocking — dense jungle on both sides, abandoned small boats once used by "donkers" (people smugglers), and huge crocodiles sunbathing on the muddy banks. This area is known as a dangerous entry route for migrants, including many from India, who travel thousands of miles hoping for a better life in the USA. With recent strict immigration policies under Trump and increased border patrols, crossing is more dangerous than ever — yet people still attempt it, spending lakhs of rupees and risking their lives. After the boat ride, we walked along the pier in Nuevo Vallarta all the way to a small lighthouse. On the way, we saw local fishermen sitting on giant rocks and even spotted crabs crawling along the shore. We ended our day by catching a local bus back to our rental house.
