To save him from Mughal pursuers, her father, Nihang Khan, told them she and the wounded Sikh were husband and wife, leading Bibi Mumtaz to embrace this spiritual union, never marrying anyone else, and living the rest of her long life dedicated to Gurbani and his memory, with a Gurdwara marking her devotion.
