ਮਹਾਸ਼ਾਯ ਚੁੰਨੀ ਲਾਲ ਗੁਲਾਟੀ ਨੇ ਸੰਨ 1919 ਵਿਚ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਸਿਆਲਕੋਟ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਨ 1947 ਤੋਂ ਮਸਲਾ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਹ ਮਹਾਂਸ਼ੈ ਚੁੰਨੀ ਲਾਲ ਚੈਰੀਟੇਬਲ ਟਰੱਸਟ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਮਹਾਂਸ਼ਾਏ ਧਰਮ ਪਾਲ ਗੁਲਾਟੀ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸਨੇ ਇਕ ਝੁੱਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਦੁਕਾਨ ਖੋਲ੍ਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਵਾਂਗ ਮਸਾਲੇ ਵੇਚਣੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ. ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੁਕਾਨ ਅਜਮਲ ਖਾਨ ਰੋਡ, ਕਰੋਲ ਬਾਗ ਵਿਖੇ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਫੈਲ ਗਈ. 1959 ਵਿਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਸਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਫੈਕਟਰੀ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਪਲਾਟ ਖਰੀਦਿਆ.
