Akal Takht Objection: Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, voiced strong objections, stating that kirtan in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib should only be performed by devout Sikhs who strictly adhere to Sikh maryada (code of conduct). Reports indicated that the religious leadership deemed Jassi unfit for performing kirtan because he lacks traditional Sikh identifiers like a turban and an untrimmed beard, labeling him as a "patit" (apostate or fallen) Sikh in the context of religious protocol.
