CM Bhagwant maan ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਸਤੌਜ਼ ਤੋਂ Wire free Village ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched the country's first underground electricity cable pilot project in his native village, Satoj (Sangrur district). The ₹8-crore initiative replaces over 300 overhead electricity poles with a safe, pole-free underground network to prevent fatal accidents and devastating crop fires. Key Project Highlights:Infrastructure: 7 km of high-tension lines and 9.5 km of low-tension distribution lines were shifted underground. Network & Reach: Features a 41-km underground cable network that serves approximately 800 consumers, completely redesigning household connections and meter boxes. Safety & Durability: The new fiber-based wires are encased in protective piping buried about 3 feet deep. They are designed to prevent short circuits and accidental electrocution, with materials carrying a 50-year guarantee.
