SGPC member from Jalandhar/Kartarpur, Ranjit Singh Kahlon, has landed in a major controversy after his NRI daughter-in-law made serious allegations against him during a press conference in Jalandhar. According to reports, Raghubir Kaur, a Canadian citizen and wife of Sukhdeep Singh Kahlon, accused her father-in-law of mental harassment and physical abuse. Raghubir Kaur claimed that she and her husband were living peacefully in Canada with their two daughters, born in 2010 and 2013. However, she alleged that pressure from the family began increasing over the years, with repeated demands for a male child to continue the family lineage. She further stated that this led to continuous interference in their married life and caused severe emotional stress. During the media interaction, she also alleged that attempts were made to mentally torture and isolate her. The matter has now sparked discussion on social media and within political and religious circles in Punjab due to Ranjit Singh Kahlon’s association with the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). Following the allegations, Ranjit Singh Kahlon addressed the media and strongly denied all accusations levelled against him and his family. He termed the allegations baseless and presented his side of the ongoing family dispute.
